The Spanish village of Mondoñedo held the first documented arbor plantation festival in the world organized by its mayor in 1594. Additionally, the small Spanish village of Villanueva de la Sierra held the first modern Arbor Day, an initiative launched in 1805 by the local priest with the enthusiastic support of the entire population.
The national Arbor Day is on 24th of April. We have to mention the National Tree Day which is on Nov 23rd Dec 1st. National Tree Week is a great chance for communities in the UK to do something positive for their local treescape. The love and closeness of nature has played an important role in human life since ancient times. It is a very nice thing to celebrate the nature of the trees in it which are the lifeblood of oxygen and the use of the raw material of many objects. And birds would be symbols of freedom, hope, spring and life, without their voices forest walks would be much more unanimous and quiet.
A couple of interesting things about BIRDS AND TREES DAY, which we celebrate on May 10th. I’m sure many people don’t even know how far this initiative goes back, even though we’ve been celebrating Birds and Trees Day for over a hundred years. Man has always lived closely with other species living in nature, which began to loosen strongly through large-scale urbanization. The townspeople were increasingly sucked into the culture given by the city – theaters, cinemas, clubs and less and less time to travel a bit to a forest or field.
The tree has become the oldest plant symbol in the world!
Fortunately, this celebration also draws people’s attention to nature and its love and protest. At various events, they tried to capture the youth and teach nature conservation, where in addition to the many plants and trees, the protection of birds was also considered important. It was written in the law on 10th of May, preceded by the 1902 Paris Convention. Fortunately, as a result, the Hungarian ornithologist István Chernel was able to organize the first Birds and Trees Day celebration in that year.
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosoms snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
Later, several educational institutions ordered that more attention have to be paid to nature conservation in elementary folk high schools in May or June each year. Among them for the protection of birds and trees, when several excursions were organized where students could observe plants and birds. Albert Apponyi, Minister of Religion and Public Education, issued a decree that schools had to follow.
At the time of the war, the celebration was delayed for quite a few years, but then as things settled, more and more events were organized for 10th of May for children and families. It wasn’t until 1994 that society matured to make Bird and Tree Day a nationwide movement again.
Nowadays, several programs and events have promoted Birds and Trees Day, many programs have made people go into forests and parks. Bird watching has become popular, clubs and bird associations have sprung up across the country, which have been made even more interesting by age organizers for young and old alike.
The bird is a symbol of freedom and heavenly soul between heaven and earth!
More and more protected bird and plant species could also be observed and protected. We can’t even imagine how rich the forest near us is, in terms of birds and a rare plant.
And the birds are happy to show off their colourful feathered clothes to the forest visitors, we just have to walk carefully and we have a lot of beautiful experiences. The plumage of the Kingfisher, the bee-eater, the blue tit, the great tit, the woodpecker, the bone feather, the nuthatch, the yellow-throated, the jay and the starling are all in very beautiful colours.
It is worth teaching our children early, that without the plants and birds around us, our environment would be much drier. Many experiences can be collected with a small walk, from which we can recall the grey everyday life, while we can embark on another adventure tour.
